What Happened Today? includes a special event or historical milestone for every day of the year.

Interesting facts about the event are followed by:

1. A question to develop vocabulary. 
2. An open-ended question to promote discussion. 
3. A question or topic encouraging further research. 

Use one, two, or all three questions with your class or individual student, depending on your students’ ability and the amount of time available.

There is also a list of special observances at the beginning of each month. If you decide that the event listed for a day is not appropriate for your class or student you can use one of the interesting discussion questions provided.
